Serrano is nothing if not theatrical; had he not sung a single syllable, one could still have thoroughly enjoyed his performances, but through the addition of the well-projected voice, intelligent interpretations and the wide variety of colours (notable especially in the Pagliacci Prologue), he presented a commanding presence throughout the entire evening; his Gianni Schicchi made us shake with laughter; his Tonio left us cringing in fear.”
